Glad to be unhappy는 Lorenz Hart의 가사에 Richard Rodgers에 의해 작곡된 노래로 1936년 뮤지컬 on Your Toes에 소개된 곡이죠. 소개 될 당시에는 인기가 없었는데 그 후 수많은 연주자나 가수의 의해 녹음 되었다고 해요.
여기 사람의 폐부를 찌르는, 온 마음과 몸을 울리는 처절한 비명과도 같은 음색의 Billie Holiday(1915.4.7 - 1959.7.17)에 한 번 빠져 보시겠어요?
사실 저는 다음 보컬인 Nancy Wilson 버전을 더 좋아한답니다.
